Interesting facts:

Pu Erh (also written Pu-Erh or Puerh) is a natural, fermented tea originating from the Yunnan region in China. It has been produced for over 1,700 years using a unique fermentation process carried out by microorganisms. Unlike most teas on the market, the sensory experience of Pu Erh becomes richer with age. The older the tea, the better its characteristics and properties. Over time, its initially strong and bitter taste evolves into a smoother, lightly earthy and aromatic flavour.

Like wine, Pu Erh is often consumed in compressed form several years after the harvest in order to promote a controlled post-fermentation. This process turns it into an aged tea with powerful properties. However, it can also be enjoyed at a younger stage. Pu Erh contains a low level of theine and is therefore frequently used to support weight loss and as an antioxidant. The name “Pu Erh” is directly linked to the production of the leaves in Pu’er County, China. Nevertheless, Pu Erh tea is also produced in the provinces of Hunan, Hubei, Anhui, Sichuan and Guangxi.

Drinking Pu Erh tea may contribute to improved digestion, reduced cholesterol levels and warming the body. It may also act as a detoxifying and mood-enhancing infusion.
