What is Rooibos Tea?
Rooibos is a shrub exclusive to South Africa. Also known as Red Tea due to its color, Rooibos should not be confused with Red Pu Erh Tea (Camellia sinensis). Rooibos tea contains no caffeine and can therefore be consumed by anyone. It does not become bitter even if left to infuse for a long time. Our Rooibos contains a high concentration of flavonoids, making it a powerful detox ingredient for those who want to lose weight. After training, Rooibos tea is an excellent ally in recovering from micro-injuries, as well as helping with hydration and strengthening the immune system.
The species Aspalathus linearis is cultivated by 400 local producers exclusively in the beautiful mountainous region of Cederberg, South Africa. The term “linearis” derives from the long, pointed shape of Rooibos leaves. In this country, Rooibos tea is usually consumed with a slice of lemon, honey, or sugar. It is also common to reuse the same infusion and reheat it during the first 48 hours. Most exports are destined for the United States of America and Germany.
Curiosities:
Carrot is a vegetable belonging to the Apiaceae family, possibly originating from Afghanistan. According to historical records, carrots may have been cultivated for more than two thousand years. However, the carrot we know today differs in color from those known to the Greeks and Romans. It was in the 16th century, through the Dutch royal family of the Orange Dynasty, that the carrot acquired its well-known orange color, as it was the preferred color of the empire. Previously, only purple, yellow, red, and white carrot varieties existed. The orange color resulted from the fusion of several carrot varieties.
