Curiosities:
Rose — According to scientific records, the first wild roses developed in Asian gardens more than 4,000 years B.C. Initially, roses were used to decorate interior spaces due to their refreshing and pleasant aroma. After some years of cultivation, Western cultures began to associate symbolism with the rose, from attracting positive energy to freedom of spirit. The rose has always been one of the greatest symbols of Western culture. In general, Westerners are characterized by the scent of roses not only due to the common use of rose-scented cosmetic products, but also because rose petals are present in various culinary dishes. In addition, the rose has always been present in most cinematic works portraying stories of love and unity.
In the Medieval Era, placing a rose on the ceiling of an interior space conveyed that everything shared within should remain in absolute secrecy. Later, this idea was expanded into famous rose paintings created on classical monuments belonging to royalty. In France, Empress Joséphine was responsible for planting rose bushes in various parts of the country. According to history, Napoleon’s wife was fascinated by roses. Today, this flower still represents French culture. In the Christian religion, the first rosaries were made from rose petals due to their association with the Virgin Mary.
In botany, more than thirty thousand species of roses are recorded.
